Welcome to Grow Local
There isn’t a single way to sustainability, we all know that, but sometimes our governments miss the simple and obvious. In Queensland, as in other parts of Australia and around the world, ordinary people can see that our food security is under threat from Global Warming and Peak Oil.
Instead of waiting for action from above many people are already working, individually, in groups and networks, to lower their greenhouse emissions, lessen their dependence on oil and to secure their food supply.
For almost forty years Queensland Conservation has helped to bring together the disparate strands of the environment movement in Queensland. We consult with our member groups and other conservation organisations helping to coordinate our individual efforts and to present a united face to governments and other decision makers.
We want to see the transformation in our city, our region, our greenhouse emissions and our health that can be made by drawing together the backyard gardener, the community supported farmer, the urban farm, the conservationist, local councils and everyone who appreciates good food. We want to make our leaders aware of the great work being done for all our futures and to get support for more. That’s what Grow Local is about.
I hope you can join us.
